This has been an eventful week, not to mention that I wasn't able to write as much last week, so I have even more to make up!
Yesterday (Friday) We had Outbound calls in which sisters who have been on temple square for a while find out whether or not they are going to be called to another mission this coming transfer or later. My companion, Sis. Williams, got called to North Carolina (exciting stuff) and one of my roommates also got called to do outbound, and my last roommate is going home! so I'll be the only one left from those who live in my apartment! Crazy stuff eh?
It's kinda cool, one of the sisters here got called outbound to t he same mission as Clarissa, the Florida, Orlando mission. She's super excited! It'll be a bit weird not being able to see some of the sisters who are leaving, and even though I've only known most of them for only a little over a month, I've gotten really close to them. It's amazing what you learn about the sisters you work with when you see them on a nearly daily basis.
also yesterday, sis.Williams and I got to go on exchanges with our Zone Leaders (which, if you weren't sure, are all girls. ZLs, DLs, and APs are all girls... and sis Wooters, whom I went on exchanges with yesterday, mentioned that when she was on her outbound she kept on forgetting that the APs, etc, were elders in her outbound area, but thankfully she never called them sister to their face!)
Okay, now I'll answer questions that all ya'll asked in your emails, then I'll get back to telling exciting things that I didn't mention before... if I haven't covered them all :D
Mom's Questions:"So, how was Easter at Temple Square?"
So, Easter on Temple square was basically like every other day, except we got to go to sacrament meeting and hear some really excellent talks. All the rest of the day we were on the square doing what we always do, contacting, giving tours, teaching and inviting! etc.
HHAHAHAH!!! Ohhhh goodness! I love the sisters here. Just now while w bunch of us are writing emails to our families, we're able to print out the emails and so on, and so one of the other sisters (the other ZL) picked up an email and handed it to one of my District Leaders saying, "I thought it was my companion's 'cause her name's that too." Though instead of 'that' she said her companion's first name, then she announced to the room of sisters what her companion's name was and we all gasped in horror like she had said something vulgar or whatever. Oh the joys of missionary life.Like on the day we had outbound calls, since it's all sisters here (aside from the senior couples), we had quite a fun time. From what I understand, normally outbound calls are full of cheers, shouting, cat calls etc, and this was not really an exception. Our mission pres and his wife are such characters. They are exceptional at their job as leaders in this mission, but they also make sure we all have a lot of fun in the process. They dressed up in UPS shirts and hats and had a map where the sisters who are called outbound played something like "Pin the tail on the donkey" but it was "guess what state you've been called to" and spun the sisters around that got called and had them stick a sticker with their name on it on the map. It was so much fun.
Okay, back to the questions, sorry about that. I got distracted by the silliness of my lovely sisters here on the Square.
So another question that mom asked was: Do you belong to a ward? Have Sacrament meeting ( well of course you do that, but what are the logistics?)?
Yes? the ward is basically just the missionaries on the square and our mission president, etc. So just imagine a chapel filled with sisters in the center, the occasional guests/visitors in the back, and senior couples on the side. As soon as we get out of Sacrament, we have a small prayer meeting, then we go to our assignments on the square.
And it looks like my companion's done emailing, so I'm going to try and go faster.
Amy mentioned that Sis. Shattuck commented on the blog, and actually I did know that Lizzie got called to London! that's so cool! I found out from sister Henderson when she and others came up for General Conference, but I didn't know it was because of sister Chenina! I know her. She cut sis. William's hair just before conference, and is really nice. I'll let her know about Lizzie and where she's going, etc :D
And things are going well. Sis Williams and I figured out a way to plan our tours to make it so ti works out better. We've been having a hard time at first, but now we have something that works really well. We figure out what we want people to understand by the end of the tour and then plan out what we're basically going to say at each place that will help us get our point across. So that's been helping things out, especially since we've been having more than one tour a day overall for a while, and summer's coming so we'll have tons of people, and we'll have to be faster at saying what we want/need to say.
And I'm glad that mom got my card on her birthday! YAY!
And thank you dad for reading my story, I'll email you more about that in another email.
And for Becky's Questions:"Do you and your companions cook a lot?" Not really. Some people are able to, but since being here I've not really had time to cook a lot. I've done spaghetti and one thing in a crock pot, and rice, but other than that I've been living mainly on sandwiches, cereal and trying out the restaurants nearby.
"Do you have time to do such things?" Sometimes... I may have today, but we'll see how it goes. :D
So last week I heard from my friend Samantha that I got into BYU-I, Becky did you get anything like that? I'm super excited, but I'm not sure if they truly know that I'm on a mission... even though I mentioned that in my application. We'll see how it goes!
How are Stephen, Carolyn and their family doing? David and Melissa?
It's good to hear from you all! I especially love getting emails and snail mail. It's exciting to go to my box and see that there's a letter, and it's not a letter for the other sisters who's names also start with 'D'.
I love you all! I'm gonna wrap this up so I can do a few individual emails, and then head out.
Lots of love! *HUG*
Byes for now.
